Human rights reform agenda

Uganda is currently at crossroads. The Government has the difficult task of on one hand adhering to international principles and regulations while at the same time ensuring to maintain the electorate’s support, especially in the context of the upcoming 2016 elections. The tide is running high, with a regime focusing on survival and a population that is increasingly seen to be despondent due to high unemployment levels and a growing dissatisfaction with the incumbent regime.

About Us

The Foundation for Human Rights Initiative (FHRI) is an independent, non-governmental, non-partisan and not-for-profit human rights advocacy organization established in December 1991. It seeks to remove impediments to democratic development and meaningful enjoyment of the fundamental freedoms enshrined in the 1995 Uganda Constitution and other internationally recognized human rights instruments. .
