Overall Objective:
To improve information sharing and management, promote collective advocacy, maximize participation, and build consensus on democracy and human rights issues in Uganda.
The Unit supports the communication function of the Foundation and spearheads the organization’s membership development and growth campaign.
FHRI updates and maintains a website, and social media platforms, and issues e-newsletters.
We also issue press releases, organise media briefings and talk shows; we conduct and participate in book exhibitions, all of which are tools used to exchange and/or disseminate FHRI information and publications to the stakeholders, members and the public. The organization’s online presence, activities and digital content are all supported by the ICT function.
FHRI is a membership organisation with over 1,500 members spread out in Uganda and beyond. The membership is the supreme policy-making organ of the Foundation which gives FHRI the mandate to carry out collective advocacy. The members promote awareness and protection of human rights in their communities. It is also through individual efforts of members that collective advocacy is carried out in communities, especially with the Local Governments.
